As part of the ongoing improvements at Belper Meadows Tennis Club and with the recent development of our new clubhouse we are in the process of making changes to the way the clubhouse and the courts are accessed. This will be including a CCTV system to increase security around the courts and the clubhouse and also a new locking system which will be available to club members.
At present the courts are accessed by combination locks; this will now be changing to a key fob system. The key fob will allow entrance to all the courts and the clubhouse and will be valid for the duration of your yearly membership. Once this lapses the fob will automatically deactivate until you renew your membership and at this point it will be reactivated. Each fob will be specific to each person and is available at a cost of £12. This is refundable upon return of the fob, should you decide not to renew your membership to the club.
Please contact email@example.com to request your fob!
Thursday 7th November 2019 without any prior warning, the river burst its banks and had risen to a level 1.5m above the flood plain, flowing its whole width at Christchurch Meadows inundating the tennis courts and the surrounding car park. The flood water was 50cm above the floor in the new pavilion (completed in 2018), which was built to withstand flooding, with the ground floor 1m above ground level.
Whilst the club members have been fantastic at clearing what they can, there has been some serious damage that will require professional attention to get back up and running properly. This includes industrial cleaning of the courts, repairing the electrics to the lights, the lift in the clubhouse and buying/fixing equipment that was damaged. The cleaning of the courts and surrounding areas alone is expected to cost in the region of £2,000. A JustGiving page has been created, which has started to see some generous funds already.
